Atelier SWC, Rockley, Wiradjuri Country
OVERVIEW
Join us for a warm, hands-on winter workshop designed for creatives, makers and small business owners who want to create beautiful, meaningful content that truly reflects their work and their story.
Set in the Southern Wild Co Atelier in Rockley, The Gentle Edit is a practical, inspiring and genuinely enjoyable day of learning and doing –styling, shooting, editing and sharing – guided by two experienced teachers who understand both the creative process and the realities of small business.
This workshop is about building confidence, finding your eye and learning how to show up visually in a way that feels natural, achievable and true to you.
WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
This workshop is designed for anyone who loves creating with their phone, no matter your starting point.
You might be:
– A small business owner wanting to confidently create your own content
– A maker or artist keen to better photograph your work
– A beginner ready to learn from the ground up
– Someone already posting regularly but wanting to refine your style
– Feeling stuck in a creative rut and ready for a fresh way of seeing.
If you’re looking to build confidence, improve your phone photography and video skills, or want to learn how to create content that feels more considered and cohesive, this workshop is for you.
THE FORMAT
This is an intimate, full-day workshop held at Southern Wild Co’s Atelier and Workshop space in Rockley, NSW.
We’ll begin the day with a cuppa and an overview, before moving into hands-on demonstrations and guided shooting sessions. Participants will work in two small groups of six, allowing plenty of individual attention and support.
After lunch, we’ll slow things down and dive into editing, posting and gentle refinement, finishing the day with a relaxed Q&A, grazing platter and bubbles.
Numbers are intentionally limited so everyone has space to learn, ask questions and leave feeling confident and inspired.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Across the day, you’ll learn how to:
– Style and photograph your products, spaces or self using natural light
– Capture simple, engaging video with your smartphone
– Edit your images with ease and intention
– Create content that tells a story – not just fills a feed
– Feel more confident showing up and sharing your work online
You’ll receive hands-on guidance from two industry experts, with practical demonstrations and time to apply what you’re learning to your own brand or practice.
YOUR TEACHERS
SOPHIE HANSEN
Sophie Hansen of Local Is Lovely has over 25 years’ experience as a food writer, photographer and content creator. She is the author and photographer of five cookbooks – Local Is Lovely, A Basket by the Door, In Good Company, Around the Kitchen Table and What Can I Bring? – and is currently working on her sixth, due for release in Autumn 2027.
Sophie teaches Instagram and content workshops across regional Australia and leads much-loved Food & Art trips to Italy with her mum, artist Annie Heron. She believes deeply in generosity, encouragement and sharing what we know – and gets genuinely excited when others begin to see and share their own stories through images.
TANIA ROBINSON
Tania Robinson is the founder and creative director of Southern Wild Co. A designer, scent-seeker and storyteller, Tania brings over 30 years of experience in graphic design, art direction and branding.
Southern Wild Co began as a side project and Tania has photographed much of the brand’s journey herself – both out of necessity and as part of her own creative practice. She understands the realities of small business and the value of learning to do things yourself and brings a strong visual and storytelling lens to brand photography. Through Southern Wild Co, she shares stories of the Australian landscape, art and poetry from her historic home and converted Cobb & Co stables in the village of Rockley.
