SWC X Turn Turn Turn Peppermill

Artisan, Hand-turned

$220.00

Hand-turned for Southern Wild Co by Dave Grant of Turn Turn Turn, each peppermill is made from a single piece of reclaimed Australian Blackbutt, salvaged from Meringandan, Queensland and given new life in Dave’s Gold Coast workshop.

The timber has a beautifully striated grain, with knots, markings and variations that tell something of its former life. Rather than disguise these imperfections, they are celebrated — making every mill entirely individual.

Available in two finishes, each revealing the Blackbutt in a different way.

Natural Blackbutt celebrates the timber as it is — warm, tactile and richly striated, with its natural grain, markings and variations left visible.

Yakisugi Blackbutt draws on the traditional Japanese practice of charring the surface of timber with fire. The process transforms the Blackbutt to a deep, inky black, while allowing the grain and character of the wood to remain beautifully present.

A tiny copper detail is set by hand into each mill — a quiet nod to our village of Rockley’s own gold and copper mining history, and another small connection between object, material and place.

At 310mm tall, the elongated form is deliberately generous — an everyday kitchen tool designed to have a presence on the bench or table. Inside is a Danish-designed CrushGrind® ceramic mechanism, guaranteed for 25 years and suitable for peppercorns, rock salt and hard spices.

Useful. Beautiful. Made for every day. Made to last.

As with all pieces made from reclaimed timber, no two mills will ever be exactly alike. Variations in grain, tone, knots and natural markings are part of their character and should be celebrated rather than considered imperfections.

Helpful advice when using our beautiful beeswax candles:
  • Before lighting, ensure the wick is trimmed to approximately 5mm in length to control the flame height and burn time. Trimming ensures that the candle will burn evenly, but also helps ensure you will get a nice clean and even burn throughout the lifetime of your candle. Looking after your wick is essential and will prolong the life of your candle. Our Click Go The Shears Wick Trimmer is the perfect candle accessory and have been designed to cleanly cut your wick every time.
  • Always use a candle holder specifically designed for candle use.
  • Always burn your candle on a flat and stable surface.
  • Never touch or move a candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquified.
  • Place burning candles at least three inches apart from one another.
  • Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for unwanted drafts before re-lighting.
  • Always use a candle snuffer to extinguish candle flames in a safe and elegant manner. This avoids smoke and wax splatters.
  • Never leave a candle burning unattended or within reach of children or pets.
