Home away from Home | Atelier 34

An eagerly awaited inclusion to an existing artistic haven, Atelier 34 is an exquisite studio lodging designed for the solo woman. Nestled within the breathtaking Sunshine Coast Hinterland, a mere 25-minute drive from Noosa’s Main Beach and a short 15-minute jaunt to the renowned Eumundi Markets, Atelier 34 represents a personal haven. Crafted predominantly from reclaimed and repurposed construction resources, this creation has been a project fueled by passion—a venture that resonates deeply with us all.

↑ The space grew organically from a pile of upcylced/ recycled and salvaged materials. A set of old stairs became bench tops, mismatched doors came together with the addition of soft, flowing curtains … we just took our time working with what we had, and keeping the budget in check.
↑ The decision to offer the space as a Solo Woman Retreat, came from me simply listening to my intuition and spending time within the space. I feel so blessed that the space offers a nurturing environment to have quiet, or to allow creative thoughts or dabblings to evolve.
↑ It isn’t about spending huge amounts of money, but rather bringing pieces and objects in that have a story: that can offer comfort and beauty, without being too precious. I absolutely love the patina of rust and old timbers and the gentle feel of wool and linens. There are some beautiful artworks and of course – candles! Adding the soft flicker of candlelight creates magic in any space.
↑ Quite often, guests don’t leave for their entire stay as we do offer delicious in-house meals from a local caterer as well as scrumptious breakfast supplies. We also offer Zenthai massage and 1:1 Clay Workshops.

↑ Winter would have to be my favourite as we have the luxury of lighting the fire and soaking in the copper bath (which is incredible at holding heat) – however Spring is glorious too when the birds are busy building their nests! It’s hard to choose between the king-size bed and the outdoor copper bath – both delivering some serious comfort.
↑ My evening ritual is something I cherish: slipping into my long white nightie, giving my hands a soak with Aesop barrier cream, having some good quality chocolate on hand and a cup of black tea, dash of milk + good dollop of honey
↑ Southern Wild Co’s ‘Our Place’ is the perfect fit for Atelier 34 for it’s earthy florals with the spice of clove.

What is the story behind Atelier34? If the walls could talk, what would they say?

The space grew organically from a pile of upcylced/ recycled and salvaged materials. It was at times an arduous task, as is always the case when trying to make odd things fit, but the end result made the pain all worth it! A set of old stairs became bench tops, mismatched doors came together with the addition of soft, flowing curtains … we just took our time working with what we had, and keeping the budget in check.

The decision to offer the space as a Solo Woman Retreat, came from me simply listening to my intuition and spending time within the space. I feel so blessed that the space offers a nurturing environment to have quiet, or to allow creative thoughts or dabblings to evolve – or simply to just rest and reconnect with oneself. The walls truly offer a sanctuary of calm with the wonder of nature peeping in – and that brings me so much joy as well as guests.

A home is made of interesting layers and thoughtful touches. How did you go about decorating Atelier34 and making a home away from home for others?

I spent a lot of time sourcing just the right pieces: from female creatives I admire and vintage finds from various sources. For me, it isn’t about spending huge amounts of money, but rather bringing pieces and objects in that have a story: that can offer comfort and beauty, without being too precious. I absolutely love the patina of rust and old timbers and the gentle feel of wool and linens. There are some beautiful artworks and of course: candles! Adding the soft flicker of candlelight creates magic in any space.

Where do you recommend your guests visit for local experiences that appeal to the heart, mind, eyes and belly?

Quite often, guests don’t leave for their entire stay as we do offer delicious in-house meals from a local caterer as well as scrumptious breakfast supplies. We also offer Zenthai massage and 1:1 Clay Workshops.

However, if they are looking for something a little further afield it would have to be Bask Eumundi for dinner or the local Bookshop for amazing chai/coffee + cakes. The Eumundi Markets are also a fun option on a Wednesday or Saturday.

What is your favourite time of day, your favourite season, and your favourite spot at Atelier34?

Mornings are the most magical, as the sun gently turns the dark silhouettes of the trees and ignites the sky as the the birds begin their callings. Winter would have to be my favourite as we have the luxury of lighting the fire and soaking in the copper bath (which is incredible at holding heat) – however Spring is glorious too when the birds are busy building their nests! It’s hard to choose between the king-size bed and the outdoor copper bath – both delivering some serious comfort.

What rituals make you feel at home, wherever you may be in the world?

My evening ritual is something I cherish: slipping into my long white nightie, giving my hands a soak with Aesop barrier cream, having some good quality chocolate on hand and a cup of black tea, dash of milk + good dollop of honey!

Which Southern Wild Co scent is the perfect fit for Atelier34 and why?

Our Place. I love the more earthy florals with the spice of clove. It fits the Studio perfectly – and is also a gift to each guest when staying as part of a package.

A poem by a beautiful guest @Atelier34

Oh let me hold you darling,
Within my kindly walls.
I’ve space for all within you
The feelings, big and small.
Joy and love and whimsy
Grief and sadness too.
Let them flow and tremble,
While I shelter you.
I’ve comfort I can offer,
Warmth that I can give.
I’ve nurturing and nourishing,
The things that help you live.
Oh, let me hold you darling,
You and those before.
It’s my honour to hold you,
Safe, within my walls.
